Lets take a look from my perspective.
You return to the community. You are interested in creating something, to test out some ideas and hopefully provide something nice for people. You spent a lot of time writing, preparing, and filming movies. You do this for the fun, the experience, and the reward of being able to create something. Along the way you excite some people who get to help out and have fun. You develop a small fan base.
You move on with some other things. Maybe start a clan, thats always fun. Work on a programming project, that'd be cool too and you could make something really useful. And how about a gallery build, show what is possible in servers once you harness events and dedicate time to making it interactive and interesting. Set the bar and inspire people.
The forums are critical of your work. Some constructive, but many looking to whore. Luckily you still grab interest and make a few people happy. People start getting to know you. Its a bit uncomfortable, you are just a player in a game and people keep mentioning "fame" when its non-existent in Blockland, not in the traditional sense.
Before you know it your small fan base is harassing you over IRC. People are walking around with your avatar. People are walking around impersonating you, and a considerable amount. Over 43 recorded. You get IRC'd by friends asking why you banned them when it wasn't you. Random's ask to be your friend, spamming trust invites. Unknown people who meet imposters ask you things like "whens that video we made going to be done" when you've never met them. Even a clan member impersonates you.
You start closing services because people are refusing to use them. This makes people complain, even though they never used nor wanted it in the first place.
What was suppose to be inspiration turns to theft-- your builds and server content end up botched and rehosted.
People on the forums suddenly decide your work is that of attention whoring. They reason your rich activity with creating content can only be to get their approval, and they fire backlash.
Clan members start leaving, or complaining about what you do. Friends of yours suddenly start posting how they dislike you. People you have never met, let alone ever notice before, have built up a massive opinion of how much hatred they have for you, possibly bandwagoning. You begin to lose your temper, which results in your PMs being released. People start exposing IRC conversations. In-game, you are harassed about things you made a year a go or are insulted about how terrible your work is. People seem to think you should have nothing to complain about just because you are "well known" as if its some sort of ticket to perfection when this is just a game.
You try to combat some of the people, such as LcyGamma, using drama topics. Everything you post in drama somehow turns against you. People start bitching because you don't say hello, you are angry in-game, or you don't share their opinion. Suddenly a community that does nothing but whore and offend you is complaining you are too rude. And no matter how you try to reason, everyone is too narrow minded to escape claiming you want attention, as if its suppose to be rewarding being trolled by the select few that feed off drama.
You end up closing in the work you do. Nobody gets to IRC you much anymore, it never goes anywhere anyway. You stop tolerating people being douchebags in-game, and you figure since everyone already has such a strong baseless opinion of why you are so terrible theres nothing to lose. You may as well join the bitching.
Glad I'm not actually that important. Can't imagine how much worse it could be.
