This question specifically applies to consoles, but it can also apply to computers in general I suppose.

What part of the motherboard houses the most basic instructions for how the system should operate, independent of any even vaguely removable component? I'm talking about the most integral instructions.

Specifically for the 360 and consoles in general, what part would contain the OS? On a computer, it'd be the BIOS.

I talked with him over Steam about this. If anyone cares, for the Xbox 360 they use a small NAND Flash memory chip to store the system's firmware.
