You clearly don't know anything about hosting costs.
Having a "huge wall of text" probably only takes up a kilobyte at maximum, and most hosting plans allow you to store in the hundreds of billions of bytes, so no, "images/huge walls of text" won't really affect his cost much at all. Granted I think Badspot does host himself, as in, not a standard just website host.

The forum, website and master server are on an 8 core dedicated server.  There is a second single core dedicated server for the matchmaker and hosting Blockland games.  Together they use about 1TB of traffic per month. 

The CDN download content is hosted on Amazon Cloudfront and uses an additional ~2TB of traffic per month. 

It's not cheap.  I'm not worried about kids taking it over using their allowance.
