How to make a scratched Wii disk work? (Mario Kart Wii)

If you live near/in a bigger city with a game shop or a dvd rental place go in and ask if they have a machine to refurbish disks. It should be pretty cheap depending on the place.
Even then it may not help, though. I have a game that one of the files needed to install is corrupted from scratches. But if the game is already installed it works fine. I even got it refurbished about 3 times with a very expensive machine at the library.

Water and a towel.
Always works for me when I'm careless with my SWBII disk.

EDIT: Actually, that won't fix scratches.
