i don't really like portable games, and i already have a DSi, so i'm not getting either

No, but I don't want to be tethered to the charger. I want to be able to play for like 30 minutes, then play another 30 minutes later. I don't want to have to charge it every time inbetween.

The time can vary though, right? If you have it on lowest settings and shtuff.

Yea. Less audio/screen brightness means less energy used.
