I remember a game that was made to be a competitor with simcity...

Basically it was a better, or at least, more up to date, version of simcity (as in, in the same genre) made by a different company. I remember that there was no strict grid, that you could make, well, for example, curved roads and zone non-square plots of land. I remember a video of it, but I don't remember the name of the game. So I was hoping if anyone might have any suggestions so I may start my search.
