The thing is, there is nothing else than the artworks (s)he "could" steal, since he is using another language than you.
And you can't copyright ideas (well, you can patent them but I doubt that you have gone through that process and/or even have the money to pay the fees).

Tom:

Hahahahahaha. You talk about stealing work, but you are using Badspot's brick textures. You mention Blockland but don't notify that the trademark belongs to Blockland LLC. I haven't checked in awhile, but the last time I checked Game Maker's license pretty much said anything you make with it belongs to them. Don't try to be an e-lawyer unless you know what you are talking about.

I don't plan on releasing this, and I am making my own artwork anyways. I'm just re-making this with a few of your apps to show how trivial this is, and how quickly it can be done using the proper frameworks.

EDIT: I read Game Maker's EULA and it says you need to include a license agreement that says the Software is made with Game Maker and that users cannot reverse engineer the game, etc. I don't think it's actually a big deal that you don't have one, but stop trying to be a lawyer when you can't even follow terms.

First part does not steal Badspots work, at most the brick texture used for the window might be the only content taken from Blockland-- everything else is original graphics and screenshots of characters from the game in poses. AfterBlock does credit Eric Hartman anyhow (not that it makes it okay to use the texture but still) and Blockland specifically on a number of occasions, and relies on the Blockland community as its audience who are familiar with the works anyway.

Second part, nope.

In a different language, with different features, lacking the time it took to design, test, and polish, I won't be able to take the framework example seriously nor find it any use.

Rationalize it all you want, you still took copyrighted content from Blockland. I highly doubt Badspot cares about it, but it just makes you seem like a hypocritical richard when you take content from someone else for use in your program, but threaten to take serious action when you think someone might use your content.

I think you misunderstood me -- I'm not trying to make a framework for you, I'm just throwing together a functional mockup to show how simple this project would have been using the proper Windows API. I also hope to break your arrogant attitude by showing you that what you've created is nothing that is truly complicated or special.

Saying it that way makes me sound like a jerk, but when you start acting as arrogant as you do about this you deserve it. Sorry to break it to you, but you created nothing amazing or innovative. It's kinda neat, but you take way to much pride in it.

Sheath:

I'm not being arrogant. I've put a lot of work into this and while its not perfect I am proud of what I've done so far. Don't confuse arrogance with confidence.
