No they don't. Read up.

They are a subsidiary of Dell.

If they are part of the company, then it's made by Dell.

That's like saying, "No mom, my laptop isn't a Dell, it was assembled by a man in a dustproof room in an assembling plant and his name was John Smith. Therefore my laptop is an Inspiron JSmith-2000"

yeah, but at the same time, think of it like this.

Alienware was its own company. Dell now owns that company. The same people are making the same hardware in the same place, but all their profit goes to Dell and Dell writes their paychecks. Is Dell making that hardware?

Yes because they own the company.

I don't think I get what you're trying to say.

Alienware is now part of Dell. A different brand, division, or whatever. Its still operated by Dell, therefore it is their hardware.

Say you make sammiches. You make sammiches and sell them. Let's say Steve pays people to make sammiches but wants their profits. Steve buys your sammich making ability, and from now on, you give all your money to Steve but Steve pays you.

Are you making the sammiches or is Steve?

Steve, because the sammiches you make are long gone and people under Steves command now makes the sammiches.

Can we please not derail this topic? X_X

That's what I was explaining.

If John Smith makes the Toshibas but they market them as Toshibas, should we still call them Toshibas?

That's what I was explaining.

But John Smith wasn't making Toshibas before Toshiba bought him.

Alienware made Alienware computers before Dell bought them. Alienware as a company is functioning exactly the same and making the same exact computers but now gets a paycheck from Dell.

If I pay you to make something, does that mean I made it?

I don't see why you're trying to prove some kind of point.

Just because a different subsidiary makes it doesn't make it any less crappy.

Yeah I dunno. It really isn't important.

well id like to say good work for buying a laptop with a god awful processor and a media video card.

You made that up. You don't know of the companies deeper structure or how they handle Alienware. Don't twist facts to suit theories, please.
