Although that's true, if you think someone is stupid, chances are you aren't your to talk like them.

Yea when someone is stupid I usually are you aren't your to talk like them, but this time I did you are your to talk like them. Also I wasn't talking like you, I was mocking you, which is very common to do to someone stupid.

Have you ever thought a game company could actually make a game it wanted, for a player base it wanted, and not worry about making it a mash 1 button for free level-ups game just to appeal to all the kiddies in the world? That is why indie games are usually the best, indie companies make games they think would be fun, not what they think would be most profitable.

You can make a game and run a successful business, don't bullstuff me with the whole "they go for fun not money" argument, because there's no such thing. See: Valve. Valve makes great quality games, lots of fun, and is still one of the most profitable businesses out there. Same with indie developers making great games that can appeal to a wide variety of people, see: Mojang. At this point, the darkfall devs aren't an indie company anymore, they are running a business, they are trying to put out a good game and make profit so they can keep working on the game. You can make it accessible by all skill levels and still appeal to the hardcore gamers, that argument is nonexistent as well (WoW Neutral/PVP worlds are a good example, allowing all types of players to play the same game in the manner they want). Alienating people is not an excuse for poor game design. You're arguing for poor game design and arrogance. Idiots like you are enablers for idiot developers.

Go ahead, I'm not discouraging anyone from trying the game. If you like it, play it, and I hope you have fun. This thread was me sharing my experience and exposing poor choices in game development for what could be the best MMO out there.

Can't really compare valve games to MMO games. No one quits an FPS game because it has too much grind, or they didn't like the raiding, a good FPS game is appealing to every FPS player, and a bad one is unappealing to every FPS player. An MMO has way too many aspects that are fun to some and not fun to others. Some people hate grind, I love to grind, I can grind all day everyday. Some people love the open loot PVP on Darkfall, some people hate it. Some people love a game that is so challenging, some would call it plain frustrating. They have made the game much easier actually, but they still want to keep it true to what it is trying to be, a hard game with hardcore PVP. For example they have increased how fast you gain skills by 400%, they added an alignment system so people go red if they kill too many innocent people and they are working on a prestige system so people can be better with only a small set of skills instead of needing to max them all. What they aren't going to do is make it so you can run in at the very beginning and kill 20 goblins in 1 swing.

-I don't understand how you can find mindless repetitive tasks "fun". I guess you'll do well operating a word processor in a cubical. Me, I require some depth of gameplay, something to immersive myself, which is why I hate games like WoW, where you click on buttons and watch something happen. Grinding isn't fun, you might as well just operate notepad. Grinding isn't a game, it's the lack of a game, it is tedium put in the place of action and depth to keep people busy watching numbers ascend, and that's stupid. If you find grinding "fun", you might as well kill yourself. You've just turned a game into a job. Congratulations, you have no soul.
(details and relativity)

-That's not what I'm saying, you're completely ignoring my arguments.

Making a game difficult is fine, but Darkfall wasn't difficult. It was downright unfair. You keep ignoring this:
--- Quote ---THIRD problem: Players can run around and massacre low-level or inexperienced players without any sort of repercussion or penalty, and we can't fight back. We lose all of our items so the game is essentially over, seeing as almost all of our armor and tools and weapons were given by quest, and to get them back we need gold, but to get gold we need to do quests, and any quests we actually CAN do we cannot accomplish because we don't have armor or weapons. The game is essentially over at this point, it's almost unplayable. This relates to the first issue. There isn't any newbie "world", for beginner players, or a newbie zone or anything. We were constantly prey to everyone.
--- End quote ---
You keep arguing that they want to keep the game "hardcore peeveepee", and I keep arguing that that is stupid, poor decision making, and poor game design. This is cyclical, I'm ending the argument here.

The main problem for me is that this is FINALLY an MMO with decent loving gameplay, and it is absolutely ruined by their decisions in game design. I've been looking for an MMO that plays like Darkfall for well over 10 years, and it is an atrocity in my mind that this is what we get.
