like Joe said do kill missions, just because you do it once doesn't mean you got them all
edit: i beat it first try almost lost from hunger though, make sure oyu guys get some farms

Oh and after this you need to free up 15 soldiers to destroy it. This takes eight(?) days, and while you're doing this you will get ass-raped by hordes every day. So you better have a good deal of defense.

well i was on easy and it took me 4 soldiers for 8 days

I was playing on normal.
I had no trouble beating this game on normal, by day 90 I had 1000+ defense, lol.
