I do that all the time. I usually save once after each large chunk of edits done. Like, one part of the model finished, when it's finished, when the UV mapping is finished, after finishing each animation, etc. so it doesn't impact me as much as it used to.

even though g11 is stuff I would suggest it as a teir 1 assault rifle on burst fire only.
