so it's not even an RP? there's no dungeon master carefully plotting the adventure and no plucky adventurers trying to not die and accomplish a goal, just a bunch of dudes stabbing things until they die and leaving with something shiny?

It's whatever the hell the people who join build. The plot of the adventure is wrapped around what the players that join make it to be.
