With free sketchup, you can export it to Google Earth format (kmz) that you can rename to a .zip (make sure you rename the extension!). Then you have to extract the .dae file from there. Blender can import dae files fine, all you have to do is set up the model and export it afterwards.

Note: I had to modify my .dae importer because it DID NOT work out-of-the box even with Python installed. And even after I barely got the script to just run, I got nothing but 8 empties at the origin, no mesh.

Collada [.dae] is a garbage file format and is NOT reliable.
