Why is RTB scanning for proxies?

Pages: << < (2/3) > >>

Miga:

Most IRC servers don't want you using proxies to circumvent bans and whatnot, so most of them do an open proxy scan.

frogger3140:

An open proxy is commonly used for anonymity and to circumvent bans. FreeNode(RTB's IRC server, not owned by RTB) blocks open proxies.

Actually, RTB uses centralchat.

"FreeNode" is probably just one of the names that they named their servers with, like "dropbear" and "zoidberg".

I was thinking that he was confusing freenode.net, an IRC host, with centralchat.net, a competing IRC host.
