You need a paid edition of VS to be able to use add-ins.
And about license, I meant the PB license.

Is there an alternate way to make PB work on Mac and Ubuntu?

I do not think a license is applied.
All I know is that VB 2008 license for use is valid.

It works with the same assemblies.

I meant, rights and stuff for people using PB. That isn't related to VBExpress2008.
Also, have you tried DotNetZip too?

AFAIK, in for example the US you need an explicit license to even use the application.
