The hatches to the boat started to close. One of the other helicopters landed on the flight deck of the ship. Two crewmembers quickly ran to the back of the helicopter, opened the large passenger loading door, and shouted over the roar of the rotors, "We got a hoard heading towards the North gate. That gate is inoperational and stuck open. We need all armed personnel to help fend off the zombies while we get that gate closed. Pile in the back!" I shook my head. How can that be? They cleared out Baltimore and the surrounding area! "Come on, Stratton! They are about 10 minutes away!" The crewman said, and pulled me by my shirt into the helicopter. He threw me his gun, a G36c, and two extra magazines. He saluted, then closed the back hatch to the helicopter, and we took off.
5 minutes later
I could see the North Gate from here. It was a 50 foot tall, 50 feet wide bulkhead door. It was stuck almost all the way open. The pilot made some radio call to the ground troops for about 3 minutes, and they directed him where to land. But before we even had the chance to float over to the landing zone, hundreds of zombies sprinted over the hill. heading straight for the north gate. I heard soldiers screaming over the radio about there being too many. The pilot turned around, and said, "I'm gonna set her down on that building, where you provide covering fire for the soilders. I will head back to the airfield, grab the gunner helicopter, and be back in 15 minutes tops." The helicopter began to descend, and when we got 10 feet off the ground, the pilot shouted, "Jump! Our base depends on it!" I followed his orders.
