Suddenly, in reply to the distress signal, a large black frigate, probably twice the size of the pirate corvette, jumps in. It's not a coalition ship, but much worse. It's the Xorrhigan, a race of technologically powerful aliens currently at war with the human coalition. This is bad. They activate a jamming device and hail the pirate ship.

When the shockwave hit Mark was on the bridge picking up the papers he dropped when a giant parasite winked at him from an open vent. "The hell was that?! Are we under atta-stuff...".  Mark nearly wets himself at the sight of the black vessel. stuff got worse.

The shockwave knocked Dr.Reginold Feep out of the locker and he awoke finding himself lying on the ground.
