The only people who still want to play v0002 are the people who weren't around for it in the first place.

You didn't have as high expectations back in v8. For example, whenever I build a house now, im asked why it doesn't have much events on it.

I joined in v11. I liked v11-v14. All the versions after that were basically the same.

I think it's mainly the nostalgia.
Blockland can still be plenty fun. It's just harder to find a good server now ;(
