The Golden Age of Blockland
Wynd_Fox:
Nostalgia gives everything a rosy tint.
Deadlybones:
I see this in all the MMOs I play. The veterans get all nostalgic and think that the past was always greater, especially since some of the time it's because they are brand new and everything seems interesting to them. Although I didn't actually play BL when V8 came out, I was lurking and knew about the new features etc.
Anyways, the vets are getting older and things probably seem a bit repetitive for them. The game is better now but they had better experiences back then, they just aren't happy with the newer "community". Partly because it's different, and partly because there's more people and it's not as much of a tight "family".
Then there are all the 10 year old kids jumping on the bandwagon and screaming to people that the past versions of the game were so much better, even though they have no valid reasons as to why.
Games like this are what you make of them.

Agreed.
When you look back on a childhood TV show, you think,"That show was awesome".
Watching it 10 years later, you think,"How Could I have liked this?"
Machinima:
eh for me port forwarding ruined the game before you hosted a sever and everyone joined good or bad because of the little amount of severs on weekdays etc after that it became a sea of severs mostly noobs it takes an hour for someone to come i have everything ready put time and effort in the build for some guy to come completely lost and leave it just makes you feel stuff mostly the reason why i don't even try/build anymore also the RPG era is to blame mostly family rps. (my thought on this subject all v's before 16 were good)
