However you shouldn't change it at all no matter how much RAM you have. |

It won't make it faster, it'll just slow down everything else but Java and can cause system instabilities. You're more than welcome to try it out, but don't try it out while you have your really awesome unsaved world in Minecraft or your 20 page unsaved essay for school. |
