Author Topic: Be aware that you're sentient.  (Read 4512 times)

Though humans are extremely ignorant and unopen to new ideas.

The idea that there are five senses dates back to the Renaissance. A more accurate estimate is seventeen.

Do math in your head.

Realize that you solved a simple equation using your BRAAAIINNN.

And then remember that humans created the mathematical system.

Humans are capable of insight and trial and error, that's how they can do a WHOLE LOT of the things they can do. How they know how to do math based on what they learned. How they remember not to put your fingers in power sockets because last time you did you had to go to the hospital. How you know how to put together a puzzle because you can logically think "Hey, this will fit into this one! Oh wait, no it doesn't. Now I know this particular one won't!"

INTERESTING THEORY GO

Colours are only percieved by brains, no?

Isn't it a system life used to categorize elements/foods/stuff in general?

Blue light doesn't affect a rock in a different way than red light, other than the fact that blue is very similar to UV and red is similar to IR (infra red herpaderp)

So we cannot invent more than primary 3 colors because that's all we can percieve.

Actually, no.

Ultraviolet and infrared are completely different wavelengths, we cannot see them, but they can hurt our eyes even though we can't.

We see because of specialized cells on our retinas that perceive certain colors of the spectrum. Red, yellow, blue. With those three, we can see all we can see.

edit: Let me compare human sight to bees.

Bees have different cells in their eyes, and can see ultraviolet light.

They are sensitive to blue and yellow mostly. Hardly red. So if they saw a red flower, they may just ignore it. If they saw a blue or yellow one, they may go for it. They also see based on how ultraviolet reflects off of the object.

(I know, but I was talking about how different colours don't affect physical items)

(Yes, but why do we see in colors?)

I have actually viewed ourselves, as a human race, as "dumb" sometimes. People could argue that we have gotten to space, made transportation, the wheel, etc, but animals have gotten far without all of that, and they're instincts keep them alive.

I explained why.

This is a highly ridiculous and half-baked assumption.
The class of mammals Primata contains creatures that rely more and more on learned behaviors and less on innate. As such, they are more intelligent for they can use past experiences to solve new ones (insight) and learn from mistakes (trial and error).

Any organism that relies completely on instinct and innate behavior will be stupid and will not be successful if you put them side-by-side with ones that do not.

Why did evolution MAKE us see colors in that way?

Nature formed humans over millions of years. We can't really say how or why we developed what we developed.

I've also wondered why there is no other species that comes anywhere near our intelligence.
This here's why I believe in extra-terrestrials.

Because we are sentient. There is no current organism that evolution has made that is better than humans. Just wait for the human 1.1 patch.

Of course there's life on other planets, it's ludicrous to think otherwise, lol

I'm not asking how it formed.

There were "big foots" I believe, but they had to retreat to the colder areas of earth because of all that fur. And then they just got lynched to extinction by the Neanderthals, and hence it's so cold out there we can't excavate for skeletons.

The elephants man, we're forgetED. I see them at night... Plotting.
