So do you think that it would work if only admins can delete articles and if edits have to be approved by admins first?

Too many people think they're cool by destroying written articles. The community is more interested in damaging the wiki then contributing to it.

I wrote an article that got vandalized several times on a Blockland wiki before someone deleted it entirely and cleared the edit history so I couldn't recover it.

If these wiki's aren't proof enough it doesn't work, think of Return To Blockland. That wiki didn't work out and closed-- if they can't sustain one its probably sign enough to not bother.

No, but only admins can remove/edit revisions/history, anyone should be able to add revisions.
