Is gameboy emulation okay?

yes, however bolded below is not ok:
--- Quote from: Telly on April 07, 2011, 07:50:04 PM ---I don't care if it's "okay" to use emulators, I just use them anyway. Mainly it's for games that I don't have, but if I like them enough, I buy them. Conker's Bad Fur Day is one example. I'm not suggesting that you do it. If you feel bad about it, then don't. I'm just saying that I don't personally have a problem with it.

I suppose if the games he's playing are abandonware it's fine - however the sentence "but if I like them enough, I buy them." leads me to believe they are still being sold .. so if he is playing them without buying them, it's piracy.

See my last post for my explanation.

In this case, the emulator would be equal to a food sample at a store
They give you the food sample, so you can tell whether or not you want to buy that type of food
Tyler66 is doing the same thing.

You're an idiot. Playing a game on an emulator without paying for it is piracy unless said game is abandonware. Stop talking unless you know anything about what is being discussed (which you clearly do not).
Game DEMOS are how you see if you like them enough to buy them, not pirating them.

But see love, there's the part you're being ignorant about. Of course, I may be wrong with this, but from what I'm led to believe, they're just testing the game using an emulator. They're using it as a demo, and if they like it, they buy the game.
No need to get so defensive, pull your thong outta your ass and try having a casual debate.

They are playing the full version of the game for free. Piracy.
A demo is a limited portion of the game, whether it be content-wise or time-limited.
Playing the full version of a retail game without paying = piracy.
You are an idiot. Stop trying to seem smart and learn your facts first. I believe it is you who needs to "pull your thong outta your ass".
