The entire iNovae engine code was written by one man with all of the models and textures being supplied by the community. They couldn't possibly put out a reliable date for anything.
Development is persisting, however has been slowed down in recent months/weeks by the launch of their company.
The company is brand new, I'm not sure if they have any employees yet however they are hiring. Their goal is to get some experienced programmers to help actually develop the game with the engine. Even if they don't get any such employees, they will continue development but at the same pace they have been since 2004(?) until the game is complete.

You can't have a multiplayer game that is endless.
Unless the players spawn in relatively the same area, then it will work.
