Author Topic: Who needs Firefox 5 anyway?  (Read 459 times)

For those of you who are "nightly" beta testers of Firefox, you might've noticed Minefield has updated today, from version 4.2 to 6.0, and renamed to "Nightly" with a new logo.

If not, then I can tell you that there's probably not going to be a Firefox 5 for whatever reason, 'cuz this is Firefox 6.

The question is, why did they skip Firefox 5, or will Firefox 5 still be version 6.0?

"Nightly 6.0a1"

They skipped 5.

what the hell is nightly? what the hell is minefield?

what the hell is nightly? what the hell is minefield?

Nightly builds of Firefox, basically.

If you have Minefield (now Nightly), it updates every day to the absolute latest code available (which can be unstable at times).

Firefox is just a "stable" release of Nightly/Minefield, with the Firefox logos and trademarks.

If fireforgets stops being so handicapped when it comes to SSL certificates I might get it. Nightly sounds interesting.

Firefox 5 is Aurora
Firefox 6 is Nightly

So there is a Firefox 5, shows how much I know. It too has an awesome about page:

I downloaded both Aurora and Nightly and they look the same to me :(

Edit: Oh, Nightly is x64 and Aurora is x86
