Author Topic: Need an idea for an inventory system  (Read 2968 times)

How about a back pack system. Stuff items into your backpack like in real life and pull them out like in real life!

I'm not quite sure what you mean. A GUI but you can drag and drop items?

GUI is coming along pretty well.

Any suggestions?

Hmm that would be interesting, but I'm not sure if you can drag and drop items. As in I dont know how to attach images or objects to the mouse.

Click origin, click target.

I missed these posts :o
Maybe categories with sub categories. Like there is a 1x1 category, with the types of different 1x1s as subcategories.
Well the 1x1 has only one name at the moment, I feel shapes should be unique between gems.
But the category within category may be good. Thanks

Alright I'll look into that. Obviously that way is more complicated than just a list, so I'll have to see. It would certainly be fun to make.

Like I said before, you could even store it as bricks and then teleport the user to the brick store for management, instead of making a custom GUI for it.

I may do something like that, but I would still need an on-player inventory. I might do some sort of vault system. The player will only be able to hold like 10 or so gems, or possibly your idea with the size limit and grid.

it should also display gem name when the mouse is over it.

Anyways. What would this inventory system be for?

A server mod/gamemode of mine. There's a gallery topic of a video about it on the first or second page right now.

Hmmm...
Maybe like the Minecraft inventory, where you could hold 36 (The minecraft inventory is 4 units tall and 9 units long) stacks of 64 items (or 2304 gems) in your inventory. Then you would have a bank where you could store more... Say something like 8 high by 12 long grid in a "Vault". AKA that would be up to 6144 gems in one vault, and up to 6 vaults in a bank cell. That adds up to about 39 thouzand gems in total you can have at one time. That's a hell of a lot, Isn't it? BTW< You'll want to make it so you can sell the gems or something if you haven't already.

Sorry for the bump. I also want to see your progress. A lot.

This is a more updated topic where I will post progress on the mod.
