This has nothing to do with power, seriously, is it that hard to understand

So they still do the whole king, queen, prince, princess thing because?

Who said the wedding is important anyways? Also doesn't the prime minister have more power than the family anyways?

Because weak minded people need to go gaga over traditions that are useless today so they will be distracted from real world issues.

You know how our movie stars are absolute stuff, but we still get melodramatic over their relationships and other dumb stuff?
It's the same for them.
Except they actually have a reason to be hyped up about it.

So this whole thing is unimportant as I said?

Exactly.

I might care if the monarchs had real power.

Family hereditary power though is probably the stupidest thing ever implicated in history.

It's been like this for ages, it's a tradition. Jesus Christ.

Do either of you own anything sentimental?

Tradition, a more world renowned leader, and lots of tourism to the UK.

Hey, lets give up the whole "respect the President" thing.  From now on, the President of the United States just makes decisions in a fancy office.  No visiting places, no speeches, no morale raising, just sit and work.

It's a dumb tradition if you ask me.

That's not tradition that is the president doing his damn job (for the most part, Obama!) however I don't see people acting as crazy for obama as the wedding.

If it's so dumb, why do you even bother posting in this damn thread for Christ's sake.

I laughed.

Not really, sentiment is for the weaker minded. Making it public is even more weak minded.

Yes, this would get rid of mass politics which is dangerous with an electorate as ignorant as America's. Also, speeches and morale boosting is the only thing our president is even 1/2 effective at.

Good idea.

Good luck finding a wife with that mindset LOL.

Just remember, we kicked england's ass in 1776 and we can do it again.
