Better Mac modeling software besides Blender?

isnt there godly programs for 3d modeling? aren't there 100s of fantastic choices?

Then modeling would be nearly impossble. :c
I'm on Windows, but I've had bad luck looking for decent modeling programs too ( I'm a mapper, and right now I can only make slate edits )

Sometimes I think my computer hates me... Oh well, I'ma go google s'more with hope of getting Blender to woik.

I personally use version 2.49, the last time I tried the newer one it was all buggy.
