I haven't used Steam's voice chat since they improved it, but since that update, I have actually seen people using Steam voice chat.
Which I had never seen done before.
I use it and its Better than Skype on my internet

The founders of Skype said that they didn't need to be purchased by Microsoft, all they said was that they sold it so Microsoft could open more doors for them.

Also, a representative from Microsoft said they weren't planning to make much money off of it, they were only planning to open it more to small businesses and integrate it with Microsoft products.
