Well guys, this was probably the most eventful night in the past several months...
For backstory, I'm part of a band that was scheduled to play an event at my school called Relay For Life, where people walk laps around the track to help cancer (yeah, i don't know) and people stay over night in tents, and there's music, food, and love (but nobody knows). The event is a great view for all the desperate kids out there, because every girl is wearing those tight pant things or short shorts...and let me just say there's a lot of hot girls at my school.
ANYWAY. In a recent turn of events, another band playing at the event after the band I'm in had their drummer pull out of the event last minute, so THE DAY OF THE EVENT they ask me to sub in and we get maybe...and hour and a half of rehearsal. I couldn't say no, half the band is long time friends. They're a metal band, the band I was already in is more mainstream rock.
So I just got back from the event, and the first band I drummed for was the not metal band, and that went fine, it was sunny and great, and people listened. Then i went home for two hours and ate, then when I came back it was starting to rain. Well, by the time the metal band I'm now in started, it was loving pouring buckets. The place we were playing it was a collection of 4 tents, and the drumset was right under the space between tents, so the kit was soaked and was slippery to play on. When we played it felt like a dramatic music video because water was splashing everywhere. So we played a set, in the pouring rain, I just improved and played along with whatever, and the other people standing in the crowd were the guitarist's parents. There were people walking around the track still, so at least people were listening whether they wanted to or not. So we finished, and the last band went on, and of course they draw a massive crowd that turns into a rave once that band is done. Teenage girls soaked through everywhere jumping up and down: Otis, I'm looking at you.
Now the rain is gathering up in the top of the tent, sagging the whole tent down, with all our stuff underneath. So now we have to push the biggest water pocket out of one side, and when that happens, another huge bucket dumps straight on to me, pretty much drenching me to the max. So now, in my state, I help the band get their two amps and 3...other equipment things to the car, and that takes roughly an hour because everyone is so wet and we have to fit it all into a tiny station wagon. So now, drenched, we look over at the tents where people are going to be sleeping, and we all agree that everybody there is gonna get it on at the very least, having seen the massive rave out on the stadium. We get in the car and come home, and now I'm laying here feeling so happy to sleep tonight...
