Relevancy? I used to put maho~ at the end of my posts, which is a completely nonsensical utterance and I did it for its own sake. Whereas Iban keeps using the catchphrase "Shikata ga nai" which basically means "There's nothing that can be done.", and in Iban's case, he uses that as an excuse to not take action when it's called for. Iban seems to believe that the phrase applies to the situations where things are going south and he has every means to correct it and chooses not to.
I thought a reasonable explanation would be more effective than calling you out for being an idiot, but it seems that either approach would do just fine.
