I don't see how people can be so biased against one or the other. If anything, people should like AMD because it's cheaper, and that's ultimately the detail you're going to notice the most unless you're a computer science major. That's my understanding of it, and my take on the situation.

I've had bad experiences with AMD. (Not supporting games, crashing, heat, etc)

Haven't had any problems with Intel except my mobo didn't support it right out of the box.

Intel because all I have used.

people who say one is more reliable or compatible than the other dont really know what they're talking about. both are reliable. sure, sometimes you'll get a defective one (hell, maybe 2 or 3 if youre unlucky) - its impossible to have a 100% successful manufacturing process that produces no defects, ever. and i dont even know what "compatibility" is supposed to mean. if you're too stupid to choose a correct motherboard for your cpu when building a computer you shouldnt be allowed near computers.

Depends on your budget.

I used to have Intel i7, but I switched to AMD Phenom II.
Intel seems to stay cooler for me, but I have an ATI graphics card, so I doesn't really work together unlike AMD, which does. Also, AMD is slightly faster.
If you have Nvidia, Intel all the way, baby. Intel and Nvidia announced that if you pair them both up, more money, less problems.

I fail to believe that your Phenom II is faster than an i7. Phenoms architecture is much worse and behind the times compared to the i7 range, and even the i5 range.

Long story short: Intel will probably always make the best processors, but will charge much more for them.

Compatibility, as in software.  I had issues running blockland on a single core amd a long while ago, and it would slow down when it got hot, and I had a large fan/heatsink on it.

Intel is recognized in having technologically superior CPU's and if you compare the highest-end CPU from both companies Intel comes out on top. I've had a fair share of AMD and Intel computers, AMD has always been slower. Hence the price. Not to say they are crap CPU's, just AMD is still trailing behind Intel, but only just.

Intel is recognized in having technologically superior CPU
Where did you read that?

Could you link me to it?

I couldn't link you, it was in an issue of APC magazine which I bought in 2009 which was highlighting the comparisons between some new AMD CPU in what they claimed to be the CPU war between them and Intel. :I

I could refer you the issue number and date, there might be a free copy online.

Meanwhile, a team of scientists recently created a learning sentient android. I can't link you to the news article though. If you want, I could show you on a map where they did it?

You base your cpu choices off a magazine you read in 2009? Even in 2011?

:S

The news article does exist, its just in printed media. You know, that old fashioned way of reading. :3

Well thats true (that AMD may have improved). My recent purchase uses an i3, I did online benchmark comparisons and it proved to be the best CPU in my budget, and you know, my personal experience.

The news article does exist
So does the one in my example

just like you, I don't have any proof
