If you have Windows XP, you still have Movie Maker.  Unfortunately I don't think it can save movies into high definition, i.e. 480p or higher.

You can download windows movie maker for XP just by using google. It's amazing what we can do with technology now a days. 2.6 for XP and like version 8 for vista/7. I found v8 somewhere I can't remember but thats what I use now.

My only problem with recording videos from Valve games is that it just takes for goddamn ever to render videos with that.
