Author Topic: BUDGET COMPUTER COMPETITION  (Read 1620 times)

Eh.

If the range is $0-200
And you install windows on it
Then that leaves you with like $100 left on hardware
Which might get you a decent calculator

Accepted OS's
Windows
Mac
Linux

You can get a mac for under $200?

True, should OS count in the price?

Well, if its Windows then no.

Then install Linux and do what Badspot said and find all the other stuff in a dumpster.
Whats the price?

Comes in right at $189.96, if you cheat and ignore shipping. Shipping to my house brings the price up to $204.75, it will vary depending on where you live. I could have probably built something cheaper, but this computer will look nice sitting on your shelf, and it's a mini itx build in a tiny case, so you could presumably nail it to your wall or hang it around your neck if you were so inclined.

OS is up to you. Presumably you have some old windows xp disks lying around, I have several. Otherwise use linux. You will need to install it via flash drive (cheap) or USB disk drive (less cheap). You could go with an even smaller USB drive if you want, I just went with the 8GB flash drive because it will fit an entire DVD image on it without a problem.

Ever since Windows 7 came out I've been using a spare USB 4GB flash drive to install it from.  Much faster and less noisy than DVD.
