Blender DTS Exporting causing a crash?

You can have separate meshes in the model. Just parent the meshes you want to use to detail32.

Ok well I'm right back to where I was before then. Does it matter if it's Detail32 or detail32 (same with Shape/shape)?

Never had to do that.

Try either way you want, if there is a problem, go to the names and make them "detail32" and "Shape".

Hmm, would it matter what version of Blender you have? Or the Version of the exporter?

The capitalization of the armature and empties is irrelevant. Also any of the guides I've read never mentioned anything about parenting the mesh to anything. I've never done it I've never had any problems.
