I might be mistaken, but I believe that was my post, the original being quoted.
Interesting.
I've not been quite active on these forums for a while, and I've not taken much notice of Bottington on here himself, but from what I can tell, he doesn't post with the most relevance possible.
It's perfectly fine for a couple of off-topicy, jokey posts, the humour provided is often quite nice, but when people do little more than post non-sensical gibberish and overuse image macros and pointless pictures, it's just too much.
It might be unknown to most, but these forums do have what could be described as a "Forum Etiquette".
There are right ways to behave, and wrong ways. We're not so limiting that we don't want you to put a step out of the guidelines, but there's at least a small guideline to how you should act on here, if you're going to get along with the rest of the forum users.
Bottington should just take some time to have a look around the forums, study some posts, lurk a bit, and learn how we like people to behave around here.
Jokes are allowed, you're okay to be silly, but just don't go being so annoying. You can tell if you're being annoying from the reactions you get, and just use those as a warning signal.
And if you're taking part in a serious discussion, then be serious. Don't post an image on the end of every post. We're actual people, we talk with words.
And just of note to those defending Bottington, particularly Retz.
Yes, he's the web master of a website that may or may not be frequented by a number of people who also frequent these forums.
Yes, he has spent money to host an image site that is dedicated to pictures relative to these forums and games.
But that doesn't give him "diplomatic immunity" to how we function here.
Just because you like his website or him, doesn't mean everyone does, and it doesn't mean he should be allowed to get off scott free for being troubling and upsetting here.
It's very nice of him to host a website dedicated to us, but that's his decision. No one is forcing him to host it. He can drop it if ever he wants to, so, he doesn't have a hold over the community just because he hosts an underused image website.
