The majority of the fandom doesn't understand what a motto is. They think that whenever love and toleration becomes inconvenient, they can just throw it out the window, so continuing to stick to that motto is pointless.

considering the impracticality of said motto, it's kind of hypocritical to use it.
it's a nice message, don't get me wrong, but it's really not possible. no one loves and tolerates everything, nor should everything be loved and tolerated. of course, it's not a motto meant for things like "We should love and tolerate murderers!" more like for things related to racism and minor things of the sort.

I believe most of the fandom already understands that, and still uses it because it's simply a nice message.
