Canterlot is weirdly small since it's the capital, I'm guessing there is a large city on the other side.

i'm quite certain that's just canterlot castle

I always imagined the actual city being below the palace and there was a unique tunnel system in the mountain that got you up and down from the city levels to the castle levels.

i believe this is the gate to the city, and the castle is several stone throws away (in the back)




or it's the gate to the castle lol
eitherway, canterlot itself is rather large. excluding the city and castle, there is also the large garden (discord) and raceways (wonderbolts) we've seen in past episodes. it is likely built around the entire mountain
