someone put the audio from that old loveual harassment parody over ponies (viewer discretion advised)
Adorable, especially in avatar format if anyone wishes to partake.
Does anyone else think it's kind of strange that they would set a filly to the task of hatching a magical dragon egg? In the context of the episode, we aren't really pushed to question it, but consider the following; Do any of the other students at Celestia's school for gifted Unicorns have dragon assistants? No!In fact, we learned in Dragon Quest that Spike is the only dragon living among ponies known to Twilight. There's not a single other dragon around for Spike to talk to about what it means to be a dragon. So why, oh why, was Twilight expected to do it just to get into the school? Nobody else had ever been assigned that task (or, at least, they hadn't succeeded), so why Twilight? It's because Celestia knew what she was destined to become. Celestia had been looking for the next Element of Magic, probably for a long time. Most unicorns — especially most fillies — could have never expected to acquire or channel the amount of magic required to hatch Spike's egg, but as an Element-bearer, Twilight had access to unprecedented resources. Not to mention the fact that she was friends with none other than Cadance, which, depending on your headcanon about how friendship and magic are interrelated, could have opened up a whole new reservoir of power for her to work with.Celestia had put a lot of resources into Twilight under the assumption that she was the Element of Magic, but that test was designed to verify it for certain, putting her through a task that no pony other than the Element of Magic could accomplish.
It was a test to see how a potential student would tackle an impossible task and handle failure. The teachers were very stern to keep her thinking it was possible. This wasn't just a test of raw magic, it was a test of creativeness and attitude. When she actually managed to complete the test, that showed just how much raw talent and power she had, and so Celestia took her under her wing.
