she used some dark-magic stuff in s03e02, as well as that so-called "fail-safe" spell
Dark magic?
Also some sort of disspelling effect on that door o' fear.
Time spells are in the canterlot archives, and are one-use-per-individual (presumably a built-in failsafe to prevent excessive tampering with the timeline, which even still isn't failsafe enough), so they're probably spell scrolls.
See, I'm trying to work out all the spells my caster OC knows, and I'm first trying to understand if Unicorns use magic more like a Wizard or a Sorcerer (only a D&D nut knows the difference; a sorcerer has a more limited spell selection but can use any of them at will a certain number of times per day, with a little bit of substitution ability, whereas a wizard must prepare spells at least a few hours in advance, as well as use count per day, but has a much wider selection in general).
I'm so far thinking it works somewhere in between; unicorns have basically an infinite amount of magic for at-will abilities (which are capped at a certain power level, presumably) and can use other spells from scrolls or books if necessary, including more powerful ones than are normally allowed.
