fights with other forum users who would come along simply to attack the thread, lots of reaction-based posts during episode premieres, and a couple other things. the first two are the major contributors, plus back then the topic was much more active.

back then the topic was always in the first page of Off-Topic, these days it can sometimes be found back in page 5. the activity has died down, and the topic itself will eventually die as well considering how many have left over time and those who will leave
