Well I mean, think about it, their fans of the show but they probably just hate furries.

I might be late, but regarding Discord: They are not adding fan anything, that's a big liability. The creator of the fan content could sue for copywrite infringement. The writers probably don't even read fanfics or make an effort to know popular OCs. I bet they are calling it "Discord" because the word is hehe direct opposite of "Harmony". I think it's safe to say any relations to an OC are a coincidence.
