Trimming hair on dolls totally sounds like the show/toy was made for boys over the age of twelve.

In order to really enjoy MLP, you need to understand why the show exists.
Same goes for Transformers or GI Joe.

Actually, Rarity, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie look pretty accurate too.  Applejack just needs a hat.  Also, if you trim Rainbow Dash and Twilight's manes, they also look really accurate.  I still haven't trimmed Twilight's though.

I just straightened Fluttershy's mane.  I did that by microwaving a mug of water for three minutes, then emptying its scalding hot contents over her head.  I had to repeat the process multiple times, but it ended up looking great.
