Game was made with some version of RPGMaker--RGSS file is just an executable with the media (character icons, sprites, etc) in it, the game would work without it if you already had the program installed, but since you don't, you need the file in the OP.
I found some Let's Plays of it on YT, but they're a much different version than the one you linked us to, Taboo. Events were much smoother too, is this an older version? (For example, right off the bat, the plate shards are two different events, but in the video, it's one)
Edit: In the video the guy uses the bedroom key on a bedroom that's in the same hallway as the attic. There is no bedroom.. I think you downloaded an older version of the game that wasn't finished, Taboo.

The let's plays you generally see of translated versions use, for example, versions with the dialogue portraits changed. The one in the OP is the original. It was really that bad, yes.

I don't know if it's randomly generated for each game but the numbers on the piano keys in this version are like 679 or something. Not 519 or whatever it was in the YouTube video with that Mike guy.

UBOA isn't even an actual antagonist as is the the Ao Oni in this game, she's more a representative. And UBOA just sends you to Hell rather than giving you a straight out game over. :B

From what I read (it might have even been in this thread) the actual 'puzzle' that is the game is based off of some kind of Japanese cultural thing. I'm sure the fact that the monster is blue, and the child references have a lot to do with it. It's really interesting to me. I'm sure if someone knew what it was actually based around there'd be a way to find the alternate ending, if there is one. I'm sure there is, there has to be.
