I'm at the Ancient City world, how do you defeat Fire Demons? My sword attacks are just going through them.

I got the Akimbo Banhammers? What do?
The Invasion of about 76 noobs with Hammers keep running me down. Upon completing the Cliffs stage, I fell and broke my jets. The Banhammers wont work. Oh also I have a RocketLauncher with no ammo.
