Author Topic: Bisjac builds a comp  (Read 3488 times)

More and more high-end games are using multiple cores now.
Well, 2 cores is multiple cores.

I have a good gaming rid with an i3 dual core, and any high end game I've run on it works fine. Even when recording.

I'm not too sure on how processor clock distributes out but I think all the cores are all clocked to 3.4 GHz, not divided out...  I might be wrong though.
I read that they are divided by some geek here. I might also be wrong as well.

BISJAC'S SUPERCOMPUTER!

CASE
Cooler Master HAF 932 Full Tower
Big case will fit everything you need. Good airflow, and doesn't look like a donkey's ass.

POWER SUPPLY
Antec SLI-Ready 1200W 80 Plus Gold
Lots of wattage for your SLI setup, and a trusted brand. 80 Plus Gold means it will always put out at least that 1200W.

MOTHERBOARD
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 ATX
Has refined Z68 chipset makes it more reliable. Has everything you need.

PROCESSOR
Intel Core i7 2600K Sandy Bridge Quad Core
Is 3.4GHz at stock, 3.8GHz with turbo boost on, and even more with overclocking if desired.

PROCESSOR COOLING
Zalman CNPS9700
Comes with everything required to mount to a 1155 motherboard and CPU, and also comes with some thermal paste. Great cooler especially for overclocking, without dipping your feet in watercooling.

RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY
Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Very good RAM. 16GB is ample and will give you many years without upgrading.

HARD DISK DRIVE
Western Digital Black 2TB 7200RPM
Sata 6GB/s is very fast. WD drives are possibly the most reliable, and the Black series is great.

SATA CABLE
Rosewill 6GB/s SATA Cable
Gotta have one.

SOLID STATE DRIVE
Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB SATA III
For use as a boot drive or with Intel's new Smart Response technology which will make your 2TB HDD really fast.

BLURAY READER
LITE-ON Bluray Reader
Aren't they all the same? :)

DVD WRITER
LITE-ON DVD Writer
Standard DVD Writer with your basic features.

VIDEO CARD
EVGA GTX590
nVidia's newest dual GPU chip, combines 2 GTX580s. Currently out of stock, but may not be, when you go to order, but if they are:
OR
EVGA GTX570
Grab 2 of these, and SLI, for similar performance. I know it's better to have one card than 2, for a lot of reasons, but these are pretty much the next best thing.

MONITORS
Acer 23'' 5ms 1920x1080 WideScreen LCD Monitor
Great monitors. Grab 3 of them. Both video card configurations will be able to handle 3 monitors in nVidia surround, but once again it'd be easier to configure with the GTX590, which is the first card by nVidia to support surround without having to SLI at least 2 cards.

MOUSE
Logitech G9x 5700dpi Gaming Mouse
I have one of these myself. It's like aiming with your mind. I recommend them.

KEYBOARD
Logitech G19 Gaming Keyboard
Once again, I have one myself. Truly great. Had absolutely no problems so far with the brown town French quality. :)

TOTAL COST

All components except GPU:
$2214.19

Total cost with GTX590:
$2964.18

Total cost with 2 x GTX570 SLI:
$2834.17

All costs above take Rebates into consideration.

Any questions?

is that total before or after rebates.
i mean i have money on the side as well, but i was keeping close to the credit spending i have on the newegg account lol

After.

It's not divided. Each core = 3.4GHz, but they don't scale like that, so a dual core wouldn't be a 6.8GHz.

why does the 590 always have to be sold out. its like love, but its cheaper.

I thought so...

It doesn't make much sense in terms of efficiency for processor manufacturers to have tech like that.

Like I said, all the other rich people buy it too :cookieMonster:

Also, Ethan, most mobos come with SATA cables, y'know...  But it makes sense to buy the cable anyway in case the one that comes with the mobo isn't 6.0.

Last build I did, the mobo didn't come with one, and neither did the HDD, better to be safe.
Plus it's a good brand. Not that it'd make much difference, lol.

That's odd... a mobo with no SATA cables.

HDDs normally don't come with them though, if they do it must be a luxury or a really desperate brand lol.

Nudes of who?

If it's nudes of Bisjac I might just sit down and learn all I need to know about computers and make you the best damn thing you've ever seen  :cookieMonster:

Probably nudes of his GF he passes around. But the ones he hasn't passed around yet.

i have never given a nude of my gf to anyone before. i dont know why.

maybe...
*after school special wrap-up music plays*
im just maturing.

the title entices people to read the op. maybe they will forget about nudes of unspecified person when they get to the part about free steam game.

You remind me to do something.

I'd suggest a dual core processor however.
For reasons stated in above posts.
Quads are actually pretty nice.
