yeah i cant spend that kind of money just to be instantly outdated.
i mean hardware moves fast as is, but i cant start a new rig not even being able to upgrade it.

I expect socket 2011 to be out around Q1 2012. No idea about PCI-E 3 though.

i dont wanna wait that long x.x

what i havnt seen, is ANY info on future models using this new tech.
from intel or nvidia or asus.
cant even plan what to buy

Tom

Intel just released Sandy Bridge at the begging of this year. Do you think their next big change could be anytime soon?

EDIT: Ivy Bridge is expected to support PCIe 3

Considering that PCI-E 3.0 isn't even really out yet for motherboard manufacturers to even make yet, there's no point in even trying to develop graphics cards for 3.0 if no one has them yet.

Regardless this looks like a big step, both Socket R/LGA 2011 and PCI-E 3.0.  Faster sockets = faster connections between parts.  This is something probably that would merit waiting for.

yeah pcie3 will support 2.

im hoping to get that new motherboard once someone makes it. then just be rdy to upgrade later.
vid cards i would expect to be the last ones with models for these.

holy stuff. will this be worth the wait?

i already have a usb3 motherboard in the list D:.

Just imagine, in 20 years people will be saying "3 GHZ?  That thing is a dinosaur!"

pcie3 has been delayed for like 2 years now.
there is no way hardware developers arent working, or even rdy for its release into the market.
i see new stuff flooding out the day of availability.

It won't be a big performance upgrade to start with anyway.
You can get the same kind of performance from PCI-E 1.1 as you can from PCI-E 2.0. Very little to no difference.

well yeah using the same hardware on top of it that we have now it wouldnt

its finally the next gen in pc gaming though. video cards will far surpass previous 2.0 models.
