EA and Activision won’t only be going head to head with Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 this Fall, they’ll also be clashing with their new social services for said games: “Battlelog” for Battlefield 3 and “Elite” for Modern Warfare 3.

Activision will be offering a free and premium version of Elite, while Battlelog will stay free. However, according to game industry brown townysts, including Michael Pachter, EA might end up charging for Battlelog in the future. However, EA released a statement denying any plans of charging for Battlelog in the future, telling IndustryGamers, “We have no plans to charge for this service with Battlefield 3″.

Call of Duty Elite will cost $50 a year and will offer additional services, including free game DLC for one year. Other Elite features include video sharing, tournaments, video replays etc. Battlelog on the other hand, is constructed more like a social network built around the game. It has been confirmed that Battlelog will serve as the game menu and server browser for Battlefield 3 on the PC. There is no in game server browser or menu — the game boots from Battlelog, a process that is fast and easy, according to DICE.

I've been browsing the Steam Forum for Battlefield, most of them think it is still being released on Steam and continue to deny everything that EA said about their origin.

Harm94:
It is. Even my friends think it will still be on steam. I ask them "Where do you get this info?". They dont reply. Damn I wish it was so I dont have to sell myself to EA.

An EA employee from the UK posted on his personal twitter account a picture of the Battlefield 3 beta running on Xbox 360. His twitter account has since been deleted, but the yfrog account still has the picture and comments. This might suggest that the Battlefield 3 beta has been approved by Microsoft and awaiting release. The Xbox 360 in the picture does not appear to be a dev kit.

The first look at BF3 on XBOX (i think), hell yes. it's the beta.
