A few days ago, an unknown user started leaking videos and screen shots of an old PS3 Battlefield 3 build. Jet combat, singleplayer missions, and screen shots of other maps were posted on reddit. DICE was quick to control any damage and misinformation that this leak caused. Karl Magnus Troedsson (@L_Twin) spoke to Eurogamer about the leak, "Watching the game in crappy 320x200 resolution on YouTube is not the way that we want people to experience the game" said Troedsson.
Eurogamer brought up a valid question concerning the fact that very little Battlefield 3 console footage has been released. Troedsson states that they (DICE) always want to show the lead platform when promoting a game. In this case the PC has been the lead platform for Battlefield 3. The fact is, is that the console build is still being readied up for it's first public debut (probably the beta.) Also noting that if DICE has been hiding something from console players, they'll be able to make up their mind about the game's graphics come the beta. And a quick reminder, a beta date for BF3 has not been announced officially, but unverified sources have stated a date of September 27.
Ian Tornay (@crash7800,) EA's latest BF3 community manager has stated that the leaked footage "is an old build and is definitely not representative of the final game [...] not even reflective of the HD capabilities of the platform." What DICE does not want is people seeing these undeniably ugly videos of Battlefield 3 and thinking it's a final product. The final game will be improved quite a bit over what we have seen in the leaked footage.

Speaking at the FNAC meeting in Paris, France, DICE GM Karl Magnus Troedsson gave a co-op demo of Battlefield 3 and answered questions. According to Planete-Battlefield.fr (unrelated to us), KM said the PC beta is ready, but now they are just waiting on Microsoft and Sony. From what we have heard, it takes 2-3 weeks for Microsoft and Sony to approve content, running it through tests to make sure it won't brick your console among other things. That said, we have no idea when the build was submitted to them. Via EA UK Forums.
[Translated] Regarding the beta on PC, it is ready, but many require a beta preparations, DICE is working to accelerate these preparations with Microsoft and Sony. Once these are completed, the beta will begin.
