it's not only that it's annoying and unnecessary it's that I also have to buy 2 copies of a game to play with my sister. I disagree with any game-harbouring programs like steam / origin / etc. that keep their security so tight to the point where I spend $120 to have a decent LAN game with my sister.

The age where you could just install the game on two computers, take the CD out of the drive while the game is running and put it in the other to launch it and play LAN is LONG GONE.
